Heat rises and cooled air sinks because it is heavier. When you open the front door the of the house when the cooler is on, hot air as well as cool air is going out the door. If you open the top of the window, if you can, or just open the window, then the hot air in the house will go out the window. The cooler air will stay towards the floor because the window is higher than the door. The cooler air cannot rush out the window but it can rush out the door!
